Why Greenford gets rats
The Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal cuts straight through Greenford, and canal corridors are among the most reliable rat habitats in London. The banks, the towpath vegetation and the ground under bridges give year-round harbourage, and the population is stable rather than seasonal. Gardens backing onto the canal or the Brent get the pressure first, usually into sheds, compost, decking voids and the space under garden buildings.

What we do about it
The technician surveys the property, garden and outbuildings first, working back from droppings, smear marks and gnawing to the harbourage and the entry route. Treatment matches the property: tamper-resistant bait stations, break-back trapping where there are children, pets or food handling on site, or both.
For rats we assess the drainage as standard. A cracked or displaced drain run is the most common route into an older property here and the one most often missed, and baiting a property with an open drain fault is money spent for nothing.
Proofing finishes it. Gaps are closed with stainless steel wool, rodent mesh, metal plate and mortar, doors get rodent-proof brush strip, and air bricks are meshed rather than blocked so the wall keeps breathing.
